a general term to describe “people of color”–both around the world, and domestically, who have historically been oppressed, colonized, disenfranchised, or otherwise marginalized.

Mexican-American (or Chicano) slang term–commonly used across both Spanish-speaking and non-Spanish speaking demographics in Southern California and other regions in the American Southwest–that is roughly equivalent to “dude” or “guy” in current usage.
